DAVID MEHLMAN

David Mehlman has been working with Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinfosky, editing two hour-long episodes of Tribes of America, a new cinema-verite series about subcultures for The Discovery Channel.

He was supervising editor of this year's Oscar-winning documentary, Freeheld, which also won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance last year.

He edited and sound designed The Moon and the Son, an animated documentary that won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2005. This film was produced in association with Shadowbox Films, and aired on Cinemax.

His documentaries have shown on PBS, ABC, A&E, MTV, LOGO, at film festivals both internationally and throughout the United States. Recent television credits include I’m a Gun Owner, and I’m a College Baller which he directed, produced and edited for MTV’s acclaimed True Life series; and he edited an hour-long episode of The First 48, A&E’s documentary series about homicide detectives. David received a master's degree in Documentary Film and Video Production from Stanford University.
